Synopsis

McArthur was in the Pacific when World War II began for the United States. He initially led the withdrawal operations from the Philippines. He became Commander-in-Chief of the Southwest Pacific and directed military operations until Japan's surrender aboard the battleship MISSOURI on September 2, 1945. He subsequently saw action in the Korean War.
