Synopsis

The Royal Opera presents a searing revival of Bizet's Carmen, restoring the raw passion and simmering tension that first scandalized audiences. Damiano Michieletto's naturalistic staging transports us to a gritty Spanish town, where the fearless Carmen (Aigul Akhmetshina) ensnares the dutiful police officer Don José (Piotr Beczala).
