Synopsis

He took part in the landings in North Africa. As commander of the 7th U.S. Army, he led Operation HUSKY and participated in the fighting in Italy. In July 1944, his troops, encountering hardly any German resistance, managed to advance relatively easily all the way to the German border. After the Battle of the Ardennes, his troops were able to advance into Germany more or less unhindered.
