Synopsis
The Princess Bride meets The Tudors, this a radical reimagining of English royal history: King Henry VIII’s son Edward never dies of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey isn’t beheaded, and oh, magic is real. The Lady Jane Grey is King Edward’s cousin, but prefers to spend her days reading instead of at court. When King Edward grows sick, tensions in England rise as the Ethians, humans who can change into animals, fight prejudice from the Verities, average human beings. When King Edward’s condition worsens, his head of council Lord Dudley’s political machinations lead to Jane being forced to marry the Lord’s son Guilford, who spends his day as a horse. This comical, fantastical, romantical rethinking of England’s bloody past follows history to the point of tragedy – then tosses it aside to allow love and good to triumph. A fourth wall-breaking magical romp.
