Synopsis
Jean-Marie Havelange, once an Olympic athlete who sailed to Nazi Germany in 1936 to earn no medals, is the owner of a weapons factory and president of the National Sports Confederation, dealing with the Brazilian dictatorship on both sides. Now, at 50, his life has just begun and he longs for one true shot at victory: to become the FIFA President and turn football into the most powerful and lucrative sport in the world. To do so, he’ll have to leave Jean-Marie behind and embrace João Havelange – his Brazilian identity – to raise the Latin American flag in Europe, deceive the Brazilian military, lose his wife to a Brazilian mob boss and outsmart Pelé in the process. But his Faustian deal may come at a higher price than corrupting the purity of passion for the sport; Havelange may need to become the devil himself.
